Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information FairlyQuoted ("we," "us") collects on fairlyquoted.com and app.fairlyquoted.com (the "Platform"), how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version of our philosophy: we are not a lead-generation site — we never sell your contact information.
1. What we collect
You provide: email address; mobile number (for verification); job details you describe; photos you upload; property address for posted jobs; messages you send; reviews; for Contractors, business details (name, trades, service areas, insurance attestation).
Collected automatically: device and log data (IP address, browser, pages viewed), and cookies needed to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
From partners: payment status from Stripe (we never see full card numbers); SMS delivery status from our verification provider; publicly available business listings for our contractor directory.
2. How we use it
- Generate estimates from your photos and descriptions (processed by AI service providers under contract)
- Run the marketplace: notify matched contractors of jobs, deliver bids, enable messaging
- Verify accounts and prevent fraud and spam
- Send transactional email/SMS about your account and jobs
- Improve pricing accuracy using aggregated, de-identified bid and outcome data
- Comply with law
3. What we share — and what we don't
Consumers: Contractors see your job details, photos, city and ZIP — never your street address, email, or phone number until you accept their bid. Message contents are filtered for contact details before acceptance.
Contractors: your business profile, platform statistics, and reviews are public.
Service providers: we use vetted processors for hosting (AWS), payments (Stripe), SMS verification, email delivery, and AI analysis — each bound to use data only to provide services to us.
We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone, ever. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect users from fraud or harm.
4. AI processing
Job photos and descriptions are analyzed by AI systems to classify the work and produce an estimate. Photos are stripped of location metadata (EXIF/GPS) on upload. Estimate quality data is retained in aggregate to keep local pricing honest.
5. Retention
Account data is kept while your account is active. Anonymous quote sessions that are never attached to an account are deleted after 90 days. Directory records sourced from public listings are removed on request and expire automatically when unused. You can request deletion of your account and data at any time (below).
6. Your choices and rights
- Access / deletion: email hello@fairlyquoted.com from your account email and we'll provide or delete your data, subject to legal retention needs.
- Email: transactional messages are part of the service; marketing email always has an unsubscribe link.
- SMS: used only for verification and job-critical notices; reply STOP to opt out (this may limit posting jobs).
- Contractors (directory): businesses may claim, correct, or request removal of their directory listing at any time.
- California and other state residents may have additional rights (access, deletion, portability, non-discrimination) — use the same contact and we'll honor them.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest, access is limited, and we don't store payment card numbers (Stripe does). No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data we'll notify you as required by law.
8. Children
The Platform is not directed to children under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
